Please recommend me about licensing?

Postby glass » Fri Dec 18, 2009 2:25 am

Dear all,

My company need to implement CNS RecordTS on 2 sites. Each site has many servers, 1 terminal server 2008, and has around 10 user sessions access to Terminal server in order to remote to those servers.

What's license that I have to purchase?

solution A.
RTSS2 - RecordTS Single Server Edition v.2 for Terminal servers; Price --> $695 x 2 sites = $1390
solution B.
RTSATS1 - RecordTS - TS Recording Agent v2 [1 Server]; Price --> $295 x 2 sites = $590
+ RTSARD10 - RecordTS RD Recording Agent v2 [10 pack]; Price --> $490 x 2 sites = $980

I forwarded your question to our sales team, they should answer it ASAP.

Please note that "RecordTS RD Recording Agent" is for Windows Servers with Remote Administration enabled, not with Terminal Services. The Remote Administration mode in Windows limits you to 2 concurrent connections.

Hi,

If both sites are running Terminal Services ( not remote desktop administrative mode ) then solution A is what would need to be purchased. Although there is another option if your two sites are virtually connected somehow you can choose the Enterprise starter pack ( part # RTSSP1 ) which includes 2 Terminal Services agents and the Repository Manager / Webconsole that allows multiple agent connections. This means you would only have to setup the Repostitory Manager / Webconsole services on one machine and will give you the ability to access recordings from both sites from the one central location. If you would like a formal quote for both working options please let me know I can assist in getting those for you.

Thanks
Cory

Hi,

I have a question. :?: How many server that I have to prepare, if I should the second option? (part# RTSSP1)

a. 2 servers,
1. site 1: install RecordTS Enterprise + Repository Manager + Webconsole service
2. site 2: install RecordTS Enterprise + Repository Manager + Webconsole service

b. 3 servers,
1. site 1: install RecordTS Enterprise
2. site 2: install RecordTS Enterprise
3. install Repository Manager + Webconsole service

And please recommend me the hardware specification of each server.

PS. Don't forget to send me the quotation of 2 working options. Thank you..

Hello,

Option B does not necessarily require 3 servers, but will probably work best that way. Repository Manger / Web Console is fairly light weight and can run on one of your existing terminal servers. It does require SQL server though, Express Edition is OK but can be pointed to an existing database server if one exists in your organization. You should be receiving your quote shortly and if you have any more questions or problems please let us know.

Thanks

Hi,

I already received the quotations from Tom Kucmierz. Thank you.
Thank Cory for your answer.

But, I have a question after review the quotations.
My solution need to record activities only on terminal server. Should I purchase only part # RTSSP1 (1st quotation in case) or only part # RTSS2 (2nd quotation in case)?

Because I have to remote to terminal server in order to remote to another servers in each site. So, If I record activities only on terminal server, it mean that every establish remote session on terminal server to another servers are recorded.

I correctly understand, or not?
